When you instruct us, we will send you an engagement letter setting out the scope of work, the fee-earners responsible, the fees payable and the expected timescale. Our Terms of Business form part of that engagement.
Fees are quoted in writing. VAT is charged at the prevailing rate (currently 20%). Disbursements (court fees, OPG fees, Land Registry fees, counsel's fees) are charged at cost.
Client money is held in accordance with the SRA Accounts Rules in a designated client account with a UK ring-fenced bank. Interest is paid where required by rule 7.1.
We are required by the Money Laundering Regulations 2017 to verify the identity of every client and, where appropriate, source of funds. We may make electronic checks and request supporting documents.
We hold professional indemnity insurance meeting the SRA's minimum terms. Details are available on request at our offices.
Consumer clients who instruct us at a distance or off-premises have a 14-day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013, unless work is expressly commissioned to begin sooner.
We are committed to providing high-quality legal services. If something goes wrong, please refer to our Complaints Procedure.
You may end our retainer in writing at any time. We may terminate on reasonable notice, subject to SRA rules. Fees for work performed to the date of termination remain payable.
Our retainer is governed by the law of England & Wales.
